Kostija was born 02.11.2005 in Ivanovo city. On the third day of his life he turned yellow. From maternity he was delivered be ER to children hospital, where after countless check-ups he was discharged. He was 2 month old back then. I had managed to get a referral to Filatovskiy Hospital, where in 3 days he was diagnosed with horrible diagnose: Alagille syndrome. It’s genetically transferred disease, due to which the amount of bile passages in liver is twice lower than usual count in a healthy liver. Because of it bile is not passed put of body normally, instead it boils, damaging organs, including liver itself. Kostija got liver cirrhosis, lesser heart developing anomaly, hypoplasia of kidney and constant furunculosis. He also have problems with teeth and eyes. But the most horrible part is itch, incredibly strong itch. Day and night (especially at night) he is itching, biting his little heels, scratching himself till scabs and blood appear. There is no cure for this itch since doctor could not yet find what causes it. For 5 years we were unsuccessfully searching for clinic that will perform surgery on Kostija, but various reasons
like cadaveric transplants forbidden in Russia, or European clinics are not accepting Russian kids. Unfortunately not me not anyone else in my family is suitable as donor for Kostija. So on the sixth year of life and suffering a German clinic in the city of Essen took interest in our case (thanks to everyone who helped us to find this clinic) and professor Patrick Gerner is willing to help us. As it turned out my medical test results are not making me unsuitable donor, in opinion of German doctors. More of it: they’re promising 90% chance surgery will be a success. But the price of treatment is 140’000 €, including examination, surgery and rehabilitation period. For our family this amount of money is impossible to earn. So to help my child I ask Your help. I believe, that with help of kind people and God we can do it, and Kostija will be free of his illness. I ask you like mother – help my child! Gift him a chance for cure.
